The Commercial Art World has deflated so I am going to Barcelona

So, I’ve been realy busy since getting back from the Politaoke Tour, moving back to Berlin. Then there was the Akademie der Kunst and back to school at the UdK Berlin, Berlinale, Transmediale and every other kind of -ale there is.

I have a show coming up in Barcelona that I’ve been preparing for, but in the meantime, the New York Times has announced that the commercial art boom is once again dead and art can live again

Will there be a rise of content over asthetism? Will new mechanisms be made in order for artists to sell their work without the gallery?

Wow, Bad on the updates

I’ve been over at my political karaoke website, Politaoke. and managed to not really keep this page updated with what is going on. Later this week, I will add some more information regarding the tour and new dates as they come in. I’m also hoping to add some more videos to the YouTube as well as the Myspace page and Facebook group which are both linked on the main site.

As for other Politaoke events, a second Weimar edition will take place and a Tour of Germany is being planned for 2009. I will also making a Canadian Tour on the 5th of September, taking a short break after the Republican Convention to head up to Montreal.

Poltiaoke.com is now up and on the web. I am also working on complete tour dates with map and calender as well as all the promotional materials to bring Politaoke to you! Politaoke 2.0 as I refer to it, is expanded, bigger and better, with more political karaoke speeches than the Gerber3 Event had before. It is a speciality act that will be constantly updated during the entire tour, to provide actual up to date speeches and interviews from your favorite politicans.

POLITical speeches as karAOKE = POLITAOKE.
Politicians are actors, deliverers of words cleverly written by high paid political scientists working as speech writers sent to them via teleprompters. Other times they are professional improvisers, stringing together the current events jargon into sound bits and phrases that are perfect for being cut into newspapers, radio shows and television. But their words, whether powerful, ridiculous or down right wrong, belong to us. Politaoke provides the audience a platform to perform, mock and finally hear and see clearly what their politicians say. In celebration of the upcoming election, speeches from current and former primary candidates (John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama) as well as the showstopper George W. Bush Jr. will be included in the line up.

USA Tour 2008

Today is my last day of rehabilitation of my knee. After 3 weeks of 5 hour a day training, I may finally be done! Sorry if I haven’t been answering emails or responding to comments, I had my knee to take care of.

More importantly, I am currently planning my 2 month (August/September) USA tour, where I will take both new and old works to the public in various venues. Currently I have dates in the works for the Buffalo and several locations in Florida and am looking to fill out my dance card. Any tips or requests; please let me know, I would be happy to fill you in!

Not only has Kay given me the best haircut I’ve gotten in my entire life, but in his beautiful salon, he organizes a many events including art, music and food. I was extremely flattered that he asked me to participate in the Loft Spectacle III.

For 7 Euros you can enjoy a great atmosphere, great music, amazing food and some nice visual stimulation. My contribution to this show is a selection of films looped including; Escape, May Day Silent Noise, Self Study Course, Suburban Lanscape #1, Un Viaje (the yet forever unfinished film!), Character Study 1, Streetwallker and Creation Death Memory.
